What is Depth of Field?
Ever observed an image with the background blurred to an elegant gradient or every object in focus? The grounds for that are Aperture, the distance between camera - subject - background, the focal length of the lens, sensor size etc. Utilising these components will surely follow great images.
The Depth of Field can easily be utilised in Aperture Priority Mode. When using a zoom lens(long focal length) having a narrow field of view, distance from the subject can be comparatively more. These lenses amplify the bokeh formed in the image. Wide angle lens(short focal length) possesses a larger field of view and must be placed near the subject. Always remember to be closer to your subject. Distance is a factor that will amplify your creativity.
A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it. Edward Steichen
Why a larger sensor? A tremendous amount of light is always better for an image than amplifying it digitally. Large sensors produce better, cleaner photographs with lesser noise. So, ISO range can be extended more than that of a crop sensor.
Aperture, Distance from subject, Focal length and Sensor size helps you get a blown-out background for your image.
